The Opportunity:

We are looking for a new Software Engineer to join our Subs Growth squad, to oversee the development of our local News products.

The successful applicant will create innovative new features for the News websites on our WordPress platform, helping to drive subscriber growth and build customer loyalty to our digital products.

What will you be doing as a Software Engineer?

  • You will write clean, performant code that meets WordPress coding standards
  • You will identify and develop solutions to the business’s requirements
  • You will help to refine the team’s Agile processes, and play a part in improving the way we work
  • You will work alongside a range of other experienced Software Engineers, Junior through to Senior, creating valuable functionality for our users

What we are looking for

  • Must be experienced in building WordPress functionality (e.g. themes, plugins) both independently and as part of a team
  • Solid skills in PHP, CSS and JavaScript are a must
  • Experience with TypeScript, React or Next.js would be highly desirable
  • Solid understanding of software development principles and best practices
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience working in an Agile team context, ideally using Jira

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 35 hours per week from our Meadowside Office. The role presents the opportunity for hybrid working that must include regular office attendance.
