What you’ll do

  • You’ll install, manage and upgrade our Postgres database instances.
  • You’ll work on a broad and varied range of projects, across a range of technologies and domains, often learning and problem solving as you go.
  • You’ll migrate databases from MS SQL and MySQL to Postgres.
  • You’ll collaborate closely with other Engineers and other members of the company, as part of an autonomous, cross-functional team.
  • You will take operational responsibility for the services that are owned by your team and fully embrace a DevOps culture.
  • You will work in an environment that supports your individual growth through a detailed progression framework, a mentoring programme, daily learning hour and attending conferences.

 

Requirements 

Who you are

  • You have commercial database administration experience using Postgres.
  • You are comfortable installing, upgrading, managing and performance tuning Postgres.
  • You have experience implementing and managing Highly Available Postgres clusters.
  • Comfortable using Linux. We use Ubuntu heavily.
  • Knowledge of Disaster Recovery principles.
  • You know how to implement Stored Procedures.
  • A good trouble-shooter who remains calm under pressure.
  • You will ideally have some knowledge of MySQL and MS SQL.
  • Knowledge and experience of NoSQL technologies such as SOLR/Lucene/Elasticsearch would be beneficial but not essential.
  • You love learning and will appreciate our self-directed daily learning hour and opportunities to widen your skill set.
  • You’ll want to share your knowledge to help the rest of the company to instil good SQL practices.
  • You love working as part of a team.

 

Our tech stack

Our core programming language is JavaScript (ES2020) with our website running React.js and GraphQL while our back-end platform is a collection of Node.js Microservices running under Kubernetes. Our existing platform is a mix of technologies including C#, elixir, golang, Java, Ruby and Python.
