Job Description

Aceville Publications, part of DC Thomson Media, is looking for a multi-skilled and intuitive Content Creator to work across Soul & Spirit and associated brands.

The ideal candidate will be an engaging, adaptable and flawless writer for our print and digital platforms, a skilled SEO expert, a great communicator and motivated to work autonomously as well be a crucial link in a fast-paced team.

You will have print journalism and digital magazine experience, be brimming with great ideas, have strong commercial nous and be able to effortlessly switch between subbing and proofing magazine content, commissioning, planning photoshoots and takeovers, and providing top-performing, compelling content for our print and digital platforms along with other weekly tasks.

Being able to demonstrate a strong understanding of women’s consumer media, and experience in producing content for this sector, is a requirement of this role.

This is a managerial position.

 

Job Specification

  • Generate top-class feature/content/project ideas that are on-brand, audience-relevant and may support advertising
  • Research, write and collate content for Soul & Spirit and associated products, supplements and website (securing backlinks) in perfect English and in individual house styles to multiple deadlines
  • Liaise with the advertising team to create innovative, commercially-driven content such as advertorials, e-newsletters, sponsored blog and social media posts, videos and brand campaigns that sit harmoniously within our editorial remits
  • Develop, grow and manage website and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest
  • Plan and direct photo shoots and video shoots, including sourcing products and styling
  • Work with other departments on print, online, promotional and commercial activity including overseeing design and development of promotional bags
  • Support the Editor managerially with both print and online editorial development and drive regular editorial features meetings
  • Build and nurture relationships with PRs, contributors, advertisers and other external contacts
  • Commission and brief experts and contributors
  • Oversee and line manage junior staff and interns
  • Secure celebrity/expert interviews, competition prizes and reader offers
  • Accurately proof your own work and others’ as required
  • Source images to the budget which are appropriate and appealing
  • Oversee pages/content from start to finish, including signing off pages/content
  • Provide design direction to the print studio and web design teams
  • Provide input, support and drive our Soul & Spirit Awards and any related or similar promotional campaigns
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at client meetings and shows
  • Perform other tasks delegated by the Group Editor, Editor to support the team and wider departments, when required
