Diversifying into digital technology, events and radio, DC Thomson produces dynamic, compelling products and experiences that truly deliver.  An exciting position has arisen for a Commercial Development Executive to join a small busy team. You will work to support the sales teams maximise advertising revenues across the DC Thomson Media portfolio, including Local and National sales across News brands, Magazines, Events, Digital Media and Radio.

In this role you will work hand in hand with our commercial teams providing actionable insights, lead generation and campaign reporting to support trading and to introduce new ideas that will grow advertising revenues for the business.

This is a hybrid flexible role offering a blend of home and office working. We are flexible about your home location providing you are willing to travel to one of our local offices in Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow or London occasionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Commercial team providing narrative and insights to aid revenue generation
  • Build strong relationships with the Commercial team to understand the challenges facing media clients and agencies in order to deliver compelling, high quality audience insight
  • To handle all data requests and support incoming briefs ensuring timely, accurate delivery of information and offering good level of insight for clients but also to generate internal impact.
  • Interrogate and interpret existing research sources, both internal and external, to provide commercial insights that can drive excellent responses to commercial briefs
  • Use internal and external research, audience and market information creatively to support any on-going sales and research projects
  • Identify opportunities to grow category and audiences to provide supporting insight to inspire customers, agencies and sales teams
  • Work collaboratively with insight, data and audience development teams, to add to our understanding of content performance and role, adding user insight to behavioural analysis.
  • Support lead generation to support sales cadence and ad hoc projects
  • Manage in-house campaign effectiveness research and develop case studies
  • Provide broad market, category and brand advertising reports
  • Key support for quarterly PAMCo and RAJAR reporting and analysis
  • Proactively provide interesting insights to unlock curiosity in the advertising team
  • To manage stakeholder relationships in a proactive and positive manner
  • To undertake continuous personal development and keep up-to-date with research, industry and advertising innovations

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, Attributes and Experience:

  • A commercially driven thinker that can identify and act upon opportunities
  • The ability to translate insight and data into sales arguments
  • Excellent data visualisation and analysis skills
  • A high-level of competency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent report writing and presentation ability
  • An eye for detail
  • You’re calm and organised under pressure, managing a multitude of to-dos across different projects at any one time
  • You’re creative and commercially insightful, and can come up with good ideas of how to connect different brands with our audiences
  • The ability to build and sustain relationships with stakeholders
