Celtic boss turns a blind eye to Gers
By Brian Fowlie
GORDON STRACHAN admits he can’t bear to watch Rangers games as the SPL title heads
towards its climax.
The Celtic boss amuses himself elsewhere while the Ibrox side try to claw back the points deficit with their games in hand.
“I can’t watch the games. I get too excited,” he says. “I feel like a bit of a vulture and I’d rather not be like that.
“I’d rather just get the result at the end. I think we’ve got enough
information on Rangers in the computer and on video. I didn’t watch them against Motherwell in midweek because we don’t have to deal with these two teams again this season.
“It was different with last Sunday’s game, we have it on video and analyse it for the Hibs side of the game.”
Scheme
A similar scheme will have been in action yesterday, because Celtic play their final game of the season against Dundee United at Tannadice on May 22.
The Hoops play Hibs this afternoon and Strachan says he’s revelling in these games where it’s three points or goodbye to the Championship.
“I enjoy this tension. It’s not a problem,” he claimed. “It’s something new, chasing someone, and because it’s new you can enjoy it to a certain
extent.
“I’d rather be 10 points ahead, of course, but there’s nothing we can now do about that because Rangers have been so consistent this season. It’s something different to your
management.
“It’s like being a golfer, with the clubs in your bag, how many shots can you play? Can you fade it? Can you draw it?
“As a manager, you’re adding clubs to your bag. All we’re trying to do is win the Hibs game to ensure it goes to the last game of the season. It’s a
one-game thing at the moment because, if we don’t win today, the next game is irrelevant.”
Celtic skipper Stephen McManus is expected to return to the side, despite sustaining an ankle knock in training.
