Sweet success for Betty’s three-year campaign

By Fiona Miller
FOR THE third year in a row, Betty Thomson and her pals from Glasgow have raised a sweet sum of cash for our CHAS appeal.
Betty and her friends meet up a couple of times a week at Bellahouston Leisure Centre and, as well as keeping fit, they keep our appeal ticking over.
This year they’ve raised an amazing £2000, bringing their total to a whopping £6000.

Betty hands over yet another bumper cheque for CHAS.

Betty sells a mixture of things including cards, biscuits and sweets to people in the centre. She also sells her goodies at Cardonald Pensioners Club as well as the Gorbalites Club to which she and her friends belong.
“If someone needs a card — whether it’s a birthday, get well or Christmas card — they come to me,” says Betty. It’s the same with the biscuits and sweets.
“We’re all delighted to be able to help out and are looking forward to seeing Robin House open up in Balloch soon.”
And thanks to people like Betty and her pals, it soon will be.
