Each £1 brick helps build the new hospice

By Sarah Johnson

ONE OF Scotland’s most prestigious shopping centres is joining in with the construction of the new hospice.
Glasgow’s Buchanan Galleries, home to some of the biggest-name High Street stores, will invite shoppers to buy a virtual brick costing just £1.
Hollywood superstar Ewan McGregor has shown his support by being the first to pledge his pound.

Buchanan Galleries manager Hamish Millar
and CHAS representative Roslyn Neely get the
Buy A Brick campaign off to a good start.

However, one brick cannot stand alone — so the star of Moulin Rouge and Star Wars needs your help.
From tomorrow, if you’re out shopping in the Galleries you too can buy a virtual brick and play a part in the national effort for the second hospice at Loch Lomond.
And with an average of more than 400,000 shoppers flocking to Buchanan Galleries every week, the “Buy A Brick” initiative should become a major money-spinner.
Galleries manager Hamish Millar is proud of the contribution the shopping centre is set to make.
He said, “The Children’s Hospice Association is close to all our hearts. I’m sure our customers will help us raise a healthy sum for The Sunday Post Hospice Appeal.”
If you want to join in, you can find the display on the shopping centre’s upper floor.
There are also collection points in designated spots around the Galleries. The display will contain regular progress reports and photographs to keep shoppers updated.
The Buy A Brick initiative will continue to be hosted by Buchanan Galleries until the hospice is completed.
And Hamish and his team, supported by all the retailers, have a number of other fund-raising activities in the pipeline to give a further boost to our campaign.
