Auction swings
into action

By Stevie Gallacher

On September 29 we told you about an auction on behalf of our CHAS campaign organised by the management of the Buchanan Galleries shopping centre in Glasgow.
The items have been on display in the Galleries since Monday and this week is your chance to raise as much as possible for Robin House.
Bidding will start at midnight tomorrow and will run through to midnight on Friday.

Sharleen Spiteri.

All the items, bar one, will be available solely on the Internet. The exception is an exclusive offer for Sunday Post readers — a limited-edition bottle of Bowmore single malt whisky specially produced to mark the 10th anniversary of CHAS. The bottle is one of only 10 produced. Seven have already been sold and CHAS intend to keep another two. This bottle, therefore, is the last one available. The reserve price is £1400.
If you would like to buy this collector’s item, send your bid by post to Whisky Auction, 144 Port Dundas Road, Glasgow, G4 0HZ; by fax to 0141 331 1595; or by e-mail to hospice@sundaypost.com  Please include your name, address and phone number. But remember, bids start at £1400.
There are several other collector’s items available. Scots singer Sharleen Spiteri has kindly donated a platinum disc awarded to her band Texas for their Greatest Hits album.
Sharleen will sign it to the highest bidder. The reserve price for this collector’s item is £200. Also available are two signed Texas CDs with a minimum bid of £50.
Movie idol Ewan McGregor has given CHAS two signed Star Wars DVDs to auction. Each starts with a £100 asking price.
A minimum bid of £150 will give you a chance to own an official football from Manchester United, signed by the first team, including David Beckham.
A signed Rangers top and a special half-Celtic, half-St Mirren top from Frank McAvennie’s testimonial match each have a reserve of £100.
To get your hands on any of these superb items (but not the whisky) all you have to do is log on to Internet auction site www.ebay.co.uk  and click on the “Charity” option (it’s in the box headed “See Also”).
The CHAS auction will be found in that section. All you then have to do is follow the bidding instructions.
Remember though, you can’t bid until midnight on Monday October 6.
