Dish of the day from
A La Carte singers

By Gary Moug

RAISING MONEY for CHAS was the dish of the day for Glasgow’s A La Carte singers.
The seven friends, based mainly in and around Bearsden and Milngavie, regularly perform concerts for groups such as schools, churches and nursing homes.

The magnificent seven present their
cheque to Agnes Malone.

They charge no fee, but for the past 18 months they have invited audiences to make donations to CHAS. And last week they arrived at The Sunday Post’s Glasgow Office to hand over a cheque for a magnificent £1500.
A spokesperson for the group said, “The A La Carte singers have been going strong for many decades and we’ve always had a chosen charity
to raise money for.
“We heard about the plans to build a second children’s hospice in Scotland and couldn’t think of a more worthwhile cause.
“We are delighted to hand over this money to the Sunday Post Appeal and to announce that CHAS will remain our designated charity from now on.”
CHAS chief executive Agnes Malone was on hand to take delivery of the cheque. She said, “I would like to thank the A La Carte singers for their efforts. We are always very, very grateful for donations.”
