Help us to help them

Marvellous effort by the Marafun mob

DOZENS OF people who took part in this year’s Sunday Post Marafun at Traquair in the Borders took steps to raise funds for our Hospice Appeal — 26,144 steps to be exact!
That’s how precise one walker was about the length of the route over the Minch Moor and through the forest, thanks to a pedometer strapped to her leg.

In all, CHAS supporters put a magnificent £6365 into the kitty through sponsorship.
They may have been a bit wet, weary and wabbit when they checked back in at the end of the 12-mile walk, but that kind of money made it all worthwhile.
Three generations of the McFarlane family from Ayr chipped in with £500. Harry and Shonach McFarlane were with their daughters Ciorsdan and Ghislane and their grandson David.
There was £800 from Mo Thomson and her pals from Scottish and Southern Energy in Perth.
Nine-year-old twins Kyle and Liam Blain, from Melrose, had every right to be proud of the £65 they raised through their own efforts.
We can’t mention everyone by name, but we CAN say a sincere “thank you” to you all and assure you that every pound is appreciated.
