Help us to help them

We did it Nor-way

OUR CAMPAIGN is now proving to be an international attraction.
And although all thoughts of tinsel and turkey are long gone as summer (hopefully!) approaches, thanks to Rev. Torbjorn Holt and his Edinburgh congregation, the Christmas spirit lives on.
The Norwegian chaplain came to Scotland five years ago to work with Norwegian students.
He said, “I do a lot of social work with our country’s students abroad. I help them deal with problems and provide church services or any information they may need.

Rev. Torbjorn Holt and Tordis Small.

“We now have an annual Norwegian Christmas Fair, held alternately in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Last year it took place in Edinburgh and was attended by around 300 people.”
The Norwegian-speaking congregation set about making all sorts of Christmas-themed decorations and sold traditional food, including cheeses, canned fish and chocolate.
Reverend Holt said, “We thought it would be a good idea to donate to a local charity, so those in the congregation decided on CHAS after seeing the appeal in The Sunday Post.
“Members of our congregation, including Tordis Small, Kari Lornie, Mary Hassel, Maria Johnsrud, Elspeth Ferguson, Raudi Docherty, Karin Irvine, Jorid McQuillan, Linda McPherson, and Tina Stepmen all helped out and made sure the fair was a great success.”
CHAS’s Viking helpers raised £700.
