They’re all better
than par!

By Gary Moug

LADIES FROM 16 Scottish golf clubs proved they were anything but below par after “putting” almost £400 into our fund.
The Scottish Ladies Senior Open takes place at Clober Golf Club, in Milngavie, every year. The event is open to senior lady golfers all over Scotland and this year more than 60 competitors took part.
Each paid an entry fee of £6 and this money, along with cash raised from a bottle raffle and a home-baking stall, has been handed over to our appeal.

Four of the competitors, from left,
Eleanor Young, Violet Bryce, Jay Tennent
and Jean Johnston.

Eleanor Young, from the Clober club, said, “The Open was played on a lovely sunny day in September.
“The weather contributed to a very healthy turnout and everyone was delighted to be able to raise cash for such a great cause.
“We always donate to children’s charities. Our last charity was a school for handicapped children.
“One of our members, Violet Bryce, put forward CHAS as a suggestion.
“The decision to build a new hospice for ill children in Scotland is a wonderful idea and we’re just pleased to be able to help.”
Ms McMorris, from Campsie Golf Club, won the event after a round of 92 — 66 once her handicap was taken into account.
