A fanatical Dundee United Supporter and Season Ticket Holder. Come Home once a month to visit friends, family and pubs. Plan to retire in Broughty Ferry in the year 2028! Always advocated Dundee is the most underestimated city in Britain. Please don't turn the waterfront into a retail park. Look to USA for waterfront development, tourism is big money. Best regards

I was born in Dundee in 1955 and left for work reasons in 1980, but still go back each year. Its still home. Phil Cooney paulcooney@btm.bt.uk I'm originally from Dundee, and a product of the (in)famous? Harris Academy. Having lived in France, USA and now Sweden, I've had the chance to experience many cultures. However, none quite match the culture I experienced throughout childhood.
Dundee...a unique place with unique people.
Nostalgia is a remarkable thing don't you think?
Born and bred in Dundee, then moved to London in 1989 to work in the film industry. Now the Head Film Booker for the Robins chain of cinemas. I also distribute Indian films to UK cinemas. Ian Rattray Robinscinemas@Compuserve.com Exiled - homesick - frequent visitor. Dundee means: Wallaces' pies, Dens Park and "The La'". Mike Stewart Mike.Stewart@wxs.nl I've lived in Dundee for 17 of my 18 years, but now I'm in Leeds at university. I miss Dundee, but it's nice to come home at holidays and see how things are improving! Plus I'm pleased to see we've finally got a Disney Store at long last! Sarah Walker ics6skw@leeds.ac.uk Its good to see so many Dundonians out there who feel attached to our wee city. Can I say 'hello'? I am involved in building heritage reconstructions of Dundee in virtual reality at Abertay University (aka Dundee Institute of Technology, Dundee College of Technology, Bell Street Technical College, ...) We have done the Law war monument, Dudhope Castle and the Unicorn. We have three project ongoing to:
* virtualise the Howff cemetary as a front-end to
an ancestral database Being a former resident of Dundee in my younger years,a former pupil of Mitchell st primary school and later the Morgan academy, it pleases me greatly to see an input area for stuff like this on the Couriers home pages and I am proud of having lived in Dundee. I still have my dundee accent when i speak english even though, nowadays my daily language is Norwegian. I just can't get rid of it. My origin connection is through parents. My mother, Agnes or Nessie as she is called, is from Dundee and my father, Mindor, is from Norway. They met during the second world war, got married and had two kids, my sister Laila and myself. At the beginning of their marraige my mum and I moved back and forth between Dundee and my dads parents in Norway while my dad was at sea and got educated as a joiner. This went on from 1947 up to 1955 my sister was born and they decided to move to Dundee more permanently, for nine years to be exact. Today they live on an island, of the coast of Norway called Hareid near the town of Aalesund. My sister Laila, a former pupil of Mitchell street primary and Logie secondry school, is a mother of three kids and shares house with the man in her life, Trond, and they live on the outskirts of Oslo, the capital of Norway. I live in a town called Horten, a one hour drive from oslo, on the west bank of the oslofjord. Both my dad and I have had had page space in the courier when we lived there. My dad made headlines when he skiid to work from Fincraig street, which used to be in Fintry (remember Sinclair Crockett), to Sturruks & sons at the bottom of Victoria rd, once Dundee awoke to many feet of snow and all communications stopped for a day. I made smaller page ripples due to small sports achievements. I visited Dundee with my wife Annie our son Sven-Erik and daughter Jeanette in 1996 for the first time since we left in 1963. We parked our car near a place we lived at in Roseangle near the previous homes of Ann Cameron, Ian Dempster,Ronald Mcdonald and "the brilliant gannet"and others whose names i have forgotten, and walked through lots and lots of Dundee reminising. We did not run into anyone I knew but it was real nice to see the place again. We will probably revisit in the not to distant future.
I was born in Dundee, went to Ss Peter and Paul primary school then went to Harris Academy.Although I live in England now all my family still live in Dundee.I have four brothers - you probably know them !I'm proud to be from DUNDEE! Kate Lemon (nee Black) PETERLEMON@AOL.com I was brought up there, went to school there and my parents still work there. Bye. Philip Gates epost@i-way.co.uk I am originally from the west coast of Scotland, that is from a place called GALSTON in Ayrshire.I came to this area in 1965 with the RAF. I now live in St Andrews but look at dundee as my nearest city, and agreat city to.It is a clean, friendly and moving with the times. GOOd LUCK TO YOU ALL Peter Johnstone mark@twister.demon.co.uk I was born, raised and educated in Dundee. I now work at Yale University in the US. I came back in the summer to graduate as I received my PhD. Not too much had changed but the city is definitely getting smarter. I hope everyone concerned keeps up the good work. Also, having the Courier on-line keeps any homesickness at bay. By the way, do Wallaces export pehs? I could murder one! Gregor Fyfe Gregor.Fyfe@Yale.edu I worked at Dundee University for seven years and have now moved on to a post at Bradford University. Needless to say, I'm missing Dundee, its people, 'The Courier', its outstanding golf courses (particularly Carnoustie) and open spaces! Steven Picksley S.M.Picksley@bradford.ac.uk I was born and brought up in Dundee and still live here. I attended St Matthews Primary School in Whitfield between the years of 1972 - 1979 and then went onto St. Saviours High School up until 1984. I have travelled to many countries around the world but have never felt the need to move to any of them. One thing I have learnt, is that although all of these places have something special, none of them has the River Tay or The Law both of which have a magical beauty unparalelled anywhere else. The city itself has improved a hundredfold over the past few years and each year I feel even more proud to be a Dundonian. The new statue of Admiral Duncan, Victor of Camperdown is another credit to the city. If you want to find out more about me then go to http://members.aol.com/A2AWalker/index.html I'm proud to say that I am a Dundonian!! Alex Walker A2AWalker@aol.com For all you home-seek Dundonians here is a VRML of the city square. O.K. it could be better! Remember to download a VRML browser plugin. Try www.intervista.com. The address of the VRML? Where else but..... www.taynet.co.uk/users/billyjake In good old Dundee! Also check out Scott`s home page. He is a retired Bobby with some excellent historical pictures of auld Dundee. Infact try all the links on the page and enjoy your stay. Jist remember your ay welcome in oor toon! Bonnie Dundee! Jake Reid jreid@taynet.co.uk Although now living in Surrey I born and bred in Dundee, I left there when I was 10 years old. I still consider Dundee as my "home" town. All of my family stil reside there so I tend to get back at least once or twice a year. The people of Dundee are without doubt the friendliest bunch of people on earth. I now have a son (Cameron) who is 9 months old and will always make sure he is aware of his Dundee heritage. I would now like to trace any relatives from my Father's side and would welcome any help from anyone who knew Alexander "Sandy" Dallas who was a plumber and lived in Glenprosen Terrace. Also if there is anyone there who attended Ardler Primary School between 1971-1973 I would love to hear from them. Keep up the good work Courier and thanks.
Well hi there, I was born in Dundee and stayed here for 3 years. I moved to Carnoustie (15 miles N.East) but still feel Dundee is my home and always will be, if people ask me where I am from I say "Dundee and Pround of it"
Cheers Born and currently a resident of Dundee Scotland.
My homepage is at http://www.dolmen.demon.co.uk
where you will find the latest dates of the Comedy
Zone (Dundee's monthly comedy club) along with
a collection of the works of William McGonagall.
My name is Betty Robertson and I am the Guide Friday Representative in Dundee and of course that will automatically make my workmates and myself all from Dundee and proud if it.
We have nine members of staff here in Dundee, we all live in Dundee and vary
in ages. Every year we come back on the road we see smiles on the faces of
locals as they know summer has arrived. We have a great following of locals
that are also glad to see us each year and know us by name and greet us with
a smile in the winter too. Alltogether we are definitly PROUD of DUNDEE.
Jim Reid, Glasgow jimreid@scotent.co. uk People say to me ' If you like Dundee so much, why not live there?'. The answer is simple: you get the best views of Dundee from the other side of the Tay! People say to me ' With all the travel you do on business, wouldn't it make more sense to live closer to London or to Edinburgh?' The answer is simple: they've obviously never been to Dundee.
Today, I have physically been in Dundee, Newport and Tayport. And
through the wonders of new technology, been in contact with colleagues
or clients in London, Iceland and USA. - I anticipate as time goes on
and technology develops, that travel will become less frequent and more
business will be done through the Internet.
Tayside Centre for General Practice www.dundee.ac.uk/generalpractice Colin McCowan C.MCCOWAN@dundee.ac.uk Please add me to the supporters list! My name is Sarah Walker, I'm 18 years old,I'm studying Broadcasting at Leeds University, and I miss Dundee!
Thanks!
As a young Fifer I was lucky enough to get a place at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art/University of Dundee to study Town & Regional Planning. There from 1979 to 1983 what wonderful memories I have. From my digs with the Robertsons in Downfield; my first flat share in Dura Street at Stobswell(inside toilet, no bathroom, no hot water) and my final step up to the attic flat in Windsor Street in the west end. The pubs and the people, the Wallaces bridies and Flemings steak and gravy pies and of course the mighty United. A pint of eighty shilling and a bridie in the Tav in front of a roaring fire after the famous 5-0 against Borussia Moenchengladbach. how can I ever forget the day we won the league at Dens. Heady days. Since then some darker times broken only by the elusive Scottish Cup win, a day that will live with me always. Now it looks as if we are once again on our way to the top of Scottish, and hopefully European Fotball. As a planning student I well remember seeing the centre and periphery of Dundee and my hopes for its transformation. Well just look at it now, and getting better year on year. Finally I had the honour of chairing the Scottish Conference of the Chartered Institute of Housing at the Caird Hall in February 1997. It was a dream come true to represent my chosen profession in the City that inspired me to achieve what I have and in the wonderful theatre that hosted not only my graduation but also those of my sister and wife - a tradition hopefully to be followed by my own children.
Dundee, for so long Scotland's forgotten city, now your true spirit is
being discovered. I consider myself fortunate to have experienced the
warmth of the people of Dundee and wish all of them and their civic
leaders continued success in the journey of discovery.
I'd be grateful if you could include a link to THE DEE Online - Dundee Football Club on the World Wide Web, our URL is http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/2914 we already have links to the Courier and are delighted to support the From Dundee and Proud of It campaign. David Young thedee@geocities.com I have lived in Edinburgh for 17 years now and still wish I lived in Dundee - alas the job opportunities are not there. Dundee has still a poor image in the rest of Scotland - I work with Edinburgh and Glasgow folk and get stick all the time but I just smile smugly because I've lived in both Edinburgh and Dundee and they have not. I feel I am a better placed judge but it falls on deaf ears. Who cares really! Up the Dark blues! Grant Anderson andersg2@boat.bt.com Although I now live in Somerset, I have always been proud of the heritage of my home city and I am very glad that at last it is getting more of the recognition it deserves in all fields from academics to industry. I try to get back and visit my relatives as much as possible and am always gladdened at the welcome given by everyone. Thank you Dundee for being the BEST. RDavid RDavid8230@aol.com Good to see the web page being continually improved. My name is Robert Morrison, born in Dundee 1962. I grew up in Kirkton, Dundee, attending West March Primary, and Kirkton High Schools. In 1986, I left Dundee for London, and after a spell abroad, now live in Bromley, Kent. I return to Dundee regularly throughout the year, and always enjoy my time at home. Life just isn't the same down here in the big city without weekend pub crawls down the Perth Road, decent fish and chips, and 'pehs'. To outsiders, Dundee is definitely seen as a poor relation to Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen, and I think a lot of that has to do with the City Centre developments. Having said that, I've never had a guest come home with me who didn't enjoy the lively bars, easy access to some wonderful countryside, and good old Dundee grub.
Keep up the good work......
I'm not from Dundee, but I am from Blairgowrie. I'm living right now in the USA. I'm going to school at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I am a basketball player and play on scholarship for the team at school. I just wanted to say that it is great that I can keep up with all the local news on line. Thank you for producing this link. Claire Mollison cmolliso@unccvx.uncc.edu I've added the badge to my Dundee United web page... I would appreciate it if you put a link to my page on the supporters list

Yes I`m from Dundee and proud of it.
Born in the early thirties a stone`s throw from St. Andrew`s
church next to the Wellgate I was moved to Perth as a child
to recuperate from a serious illness.
I`m still in Perth but have always been proud to inform anyone
that I`m a Dundonian
Most of my family remain in Dundee and I don`t know how many
thousands of times I`ve travelled the road and the miles.
I am originally from Dundee and am very proud of it. Unfortunately I feel the city has been let down for some years by poor planners. (Have you ever seen a city with as many round abouts?) Indeed, the football teams also appear to have been let down by some poor vision on the part of their managers/directors. However, it is gratifying to know that the Courier is still surviving robust with a healthy readership and the editors have had the foresight to move toward this new medium for communication. However, why did you change the format of the front page. It was truly unique and a guaranteed selling point. Now I'm afraid I am as likely to pick up the Scotsman or The Herald as everyone looks similar.
I hope that Geoff Lynn, one of your employees is well. I recall him
as a nipper trying to put together stories for his scrap book. Please
pass on my regards.
Though now living in Guildford (via London, Paris & Barcelona), my wife & I are both originally from Dundee & return often to visit grandparents, friends etc.. Our travels have been due to work - I am European Finance Director of an American company that designs & manufactures ultrasound machines. We would love to return to Scotland but it would be very difficult to find a position which offers as much career satisfaction as my current one. I am a committed Dundee FC fan & am always telling my 3 1/2 year old son Finlay that they are the team he should support, even though he was born in Guildford! Our teletext is always red hot on a Saturday afternoon & also in midweek if there's a game on. I go to see their games whenever I'm in Scotland & sometimes travel up specially for big games such as last year's Coca-Cola Cup semi & final. I often check out DC Thomson's web site for Dundee news & sport, it's great to be able to do that.
Anyway, good luck with your campaign, Dundee has a terrific amount to
offer especially in it's situation by the river & being close to the
glens & within easy reach of the capital city.
